How it works

Frequently Asked Questions & Course Instructions

What is Allfalfa?

Allfalfa is a forum for educational experience. We embrace a wide range of backgrounds and teaching styles, and therefore we accept proposals from experienced academics, first-time creators, and everyone in between. Our goal is to help you unlock your potential.

For Students:

How do I book a course on Allfalfa?

On Allfalfa, you define your intellectual, physical, and spiritual journey. You can search for courses on our Home page or Explore page, and you can communicate with your desired teacher freely through the "Contact" function. Bookings are processed by Stripe or Paypal - the world's most trusted payment processing providers.

What if I need to change my booking?

Once you have made a course booking, you are placed in direct contact with your teacher, and course bookings may be changed at the discretion of you and your teacher. If you run into an issue, you can always contact us at <allfalfa@allfalfa.com>.

How does Allfalfa choose and organize its courses?

We are here to offer you a diversity of ideas and approaches - so our course choices and organization revolve around that central principle.

What are the non-profits to which you donate?

Our roster is constantly evolving. Our only limitation is that the recipients promote education, and/or conservation of the world's increasingly precious resources. We believe these causes are intimately and forever intertwined.

If you would like to propose that we include your organization in our efforts, please contact us at <allfalfa@allfalfa.com>

For Teachers:

What kinds of courses can I propose?

We recognize that the human mind does not have discrete boundaries. Whether you want to teach a course on Joan of Arc or how to plant a garden, tell your story of how you scaled the Tetons or flew a C5 over the North Pole, pass on your love of music or your knowledge of your mother’s recipes, Allfalfa is your platform for any form of teaching you can dream up. We only ask that your offering be a meaningful educational experience, and that it not run afoul of our "Terms of Use".

Can I propose multiple courses?

Absolutely! We know you may have multiple fields in which you would like to offer your knowledge. You may also have multiple versions of the same course. For example, a dance teacher can offer (A) 1-on-1 private sessions, (B) a group session that meets once per week, and/or (C) a packaged course that runs for six weeks and meets on specific dates. You are free to create your own schedule and determine your offerings.

When can I start offering courses?

We are accepting course proposals on a rolling basis. We went live on June 3, 2020, and plan on staying live forever.

How do I create a course?

It is very easy to create a course proposal, by clicking on the "Propose a Course" link at the center of the homepage, or on the top bar. After you submit a proposal, we will thoughtfully review it and get back to you within 48 hours. Alternatively, you can send an inquiry directly to allfalfa@allfalfa.com.

What will it cost me to hold a course with Allfalfa?

We do not charge upfront fees to join Allfalfa. We currently charge a transaction fee of 12% of the revenue we generate for you by means of our platform. That means for every $100 we bring in, $88 goes to you, and $12 goes to us. Our 12% fee is "all-inclusive" and includes the fees of our payment processor (Stripe) to receive your payments and make distributions to your account. In the event you choose to link your Paypal account, you may be charged an additional fee through Paypal.

Are Non-Profit Organizations treated differently?

If you are a Non-Profit, please don't hesitate to reach out and see how we can work together. We make fees for non-profits as low as possible.

Who hosts my payment information and should I be concerned about privacy?

Our site will prompt you to link your bank account through Stripe in order to receive bookings. Stripe stores your personal and banking information, and Allfalfa does not have access to it. In the event you have a foreign (non-US) account, we may send you reminders to upload additional documentation to Stripe, but again, that is hosted on Stripe's system.

How will I generate bookings through Allfalfa?

Although technically our relationship with you is that of an independent contractor, we view our actual relationship with our teachers as a partnership. That means, we are here to support you, promote you, listen to your goals and concerns, and adapt. We will have our own means of promoting Allfalfa, and you are free to promote yourself through any and all means available to you. If you are interested in being featured in any of our advertisements, feel free to drop us a line.

How do I send you additional questions?

You can message us through the "Contact" form, or you can email us at Allfalfa@Allfalfa.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Is Allfalfa a "Startup"?

Allfalfa is a new company, in that it was founded in 2019, and this is its first season of offerings. However, we do not behave in the manner of a typical "startup", in that (a) our primary mission is education, (b) we are self-funded, and so we are in this for the long haul, (c) we permanently pledged 10% of our profits to non-profits.
