Do you have goals that for some unknown reason, you can’t seem to achieve? Are there things you want to do but think that you “can’t?" Do you feel that there is so much more you could be doing or accomplish, but something always seems to get in the way?
If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, you will probably find this class to be quite useful.
Overview:
Everyone makes assumptions and oftentimes it is reasonable to assume certain things. But when an assumption proves to be wrong, that can be a problem. This course will focus on personal assumptions, which tend to be negative and/or restrictive and are often hidden from our awareness. You will learn how to identify and challenge (attempt to prove or disprove) both general and personal assumptions. You’ll also learn a very brief, but powerful role play to challenge your personal assumptions. This course is based upon principles of Critical Thinking and identifying, and challenging assumptions is a major critical thinking skill. (Experience in Critical Thinking is not a pre-requisite for this course).
Course Structure:
This three hour course, offered in two 90 minute classes is more like a training program than an online course. You will learn several skills and have an opportunity to practice these skills. There will be optional collaborative exercises that you may do outside of class with a fellow participant of the class either by phone, email or video conferencing software – if you wish.
The course consists of three main topics:
1. General Assumptions
2. Person Assumptions and the Special Role Place
3. Enhancement Techniques
Handouts will be provided by email. In addition, you will receive additional online resources including access to his website. This is a hands-on course consisting of learning activities and exercises and is designed as a training program, very similar to what you’d experience in one of Bob’s face to face training programs.
