Ever had an argument that you just couldn't figure out what happened? Felt emotionally charged and couldn't understand why? Or are you studying psychology and looking to understand communication styles, connection between emotions and cognitions, and ways to resolve conflicts? This is the course for you!
Taking an approach from EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), this course is offered through a psychoeducation lens with lots of interactive components to best assist in learning. We will explore the communication styles in different relationships, the impacts these communication across relationships, and ways to walk through the negative cycle of communication. This will aid in understanding the connection between cognitions, behaviors, and emotional responses as well as highlight where perceptual distortions occur, and communication lacks within these cycles.
Teacher's Bio:
MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, BA in Psychology, and AA in liberal arts emphasis performing arts, I have been using the EFT approach for psychoeducational workshops, counseling groups, and individual therapy sessions to help clients understand where they are having perceptual distortions, what emotional reactions are occurring based off of these distortions, and what attachment need is unmet and needs communicating.
