Does the thought of writing make you panic? We can fix that.

About this Class

Join writer and professor Bill Cushing in this one-hour seminar on how to approach writing with confidence and effectiveness. Whether for fun, for your career, for school, for your journal, or for a living, writing is an essential skill and Bill is here to help lighten the load of any writing task you may encounter.

There is no such thing as a “natural born writer." Writing, like most other pursuits, is a process, and once you understand how that process works, the task—and it is a task—becomes much easier to approach. This isn’t to say it’s easier to do, but it becomes easier to handle!

The class will be offered in two 60 minute, single-day sessions. Please join us and have some fun!

Teacher's Bio: Bill Cushing lived in several states as well as the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico before moving to California. Because of his experience both in the Navy and as a marine electrician prior to beginning studies at the University of Central Florida, classmates dubbed him the “blue collar writer.” In 1996, he earned an MFA in writing from Goddard College in Vermont and recently retired after more than 20 years of teaching at Los Angeles area colleges. He resides in Glendale with his wife and their son. Bill’s volume of poetry, A Former Life, from by Finishing Line Press, was recently honored by the Kops-Featherling International Book Award. His work has been published in print and online by various journals and anthologies, including both volumes of the award-winning Stories of Music. Bill was honored as one of the Top Ten L. A. Poets in 2017 and his work has been nominated as a best of the Net as well as twice for a Pushcart Prize—most recently for a short story concerning a World War II veteran suffering from PTSD. He is currently working on a memoir concerning his years working on ships and is a regular contributor of articles, reviews, and interviews to numerous publications and websites.
