Popular Piano Enhancement - The Great American Songbook

Popular Piano Enhancement is for those who would like deeper insights into how to improve the quality of their piano playing.

More comprehensive understanding of harmony and styling can provide the sounds one might imagine which seem just outside your grasp, even though all the while the better chords and keyboard approaches may be just one or two notes away. Much of this deficit can be greatly improved through a careful appreciation of chordal structure.

Enhanced harmonic configurations often include intervals of the ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth. Students will be encouraged to play in all twelve keys with equal facility. Subject song material is drawn primarily from the best of the Great American Songbook.

Teacher's Bio: I was born in Los Angeles and began early piano studies. I played in youth orchestras, and won a scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory of Music. I received further training at UCLA, the Grove School of Music (including rare class sessions with Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, and others), The University of Michigan, later earning a doctorate at University of Kentucky as a composition major. I have published several volumes of keyboard works, and have traveled throughout America and other parts of the world in a decades-long performance career. I am anxious to share my knowledge with others who are passionate about playing piano.
