Planning Your First Backpacking Trip

Who should take this course:

Anyone interested in safely and ethically backpacking and exploring wild spaces.

This course will cover:

  • Establishing Priorities For Your Trip

  • Planning Your Route

  • Logistics and Permits

  • Wilderness Hazards

  • Hiking in Style

  • Planning Food and Gear

This course will be taught in two 1 hr sessions.

Teacher's Bio: I went on my first camping trip and slept in a 20 pound canvas army tent in a cotton sleeping bag. But I was warm and close to the my house. A lot has changed and after 20 years of professional wilderness instruction with over 600 days of backcountry instruction experience I backpack like a pro and so can you. MA in Adventure Education, Leave no trace master educator through National Outdoor Leadership School.
