Overview
This four-week online workshop consists of participants discussing reading materials, receiving instruction, and practicing hands-on writing exercises. Participants will be equipped to write their stories and gain resources, while learning the process of self-publishing and distribution.
Instruction Outline:
Week 1 - How to Write a Story
- Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How?
- Constructing the basic elements to tell a story
Week 2 - Structuring and Outlining
- Formatting sentences, paragraphs, phrases, and quotes
- Story Tense (Past, Present, Future)
- Defining "Point of View"
Week 3 - Character and Back-story
- Creating the character(s)
- Detailing events and time-frame(s)
- Capturing your "audience" reader(s)
Week 4 -Putting It All Together
- Compiling thoughts, facts, and details
- Writing your story, goal, vision
Teacher's Bio:
Dawn is the self-published author of “Stellar” (Infinity Publishing, 2008), and publisher of “A Moment of Clarity: The Journey Continues (2015) distributed through IngramSpark (2020). She is a graduate of the Los Angeles Film School majoring in Screenwriting and Directing (2001), and she also has an educational background in Psychology and Substance Use Disorder Counseling. She works as an Intensive Case Manager in Housing, and she is an Empowerment Coach with Ascended Word Ministries. She volunteers in her church and within her community. Her hobbies are painting ""by numbers" and cooking. She resides in Los Angeles, California with her husband, and enjoys being with her daughter, son, and grandchildren.
